About the Ensemble
The Young Artists Harp Ensemble was created in 2008 to give Philadelphia area harp students an opportunity to meet and perform with others. Our 2012-13 season included 12 harpists from throughout the Philadelphia, Central, and Southern NJ region. Membership is open to lever and pedal harp students ages 10 through high school by teacher recommendation. Basic note-reading is required, and music assignments ranging from intermediate to advanced pieces are made based on level of playing. Our season includes winter and spring harp concerts at Temple University's Rock Hall, along with selected student participation in the Festival of Young Musicians Youth Chamber Orchestra concert under the direction of Luis Biava. Members are also invited to attend monthly studio masterclasses with Elizabeth Hainen at Temple University. The ensemble is under the direction of Kimberly Rowe.
The Young Artists Harp Ensemble has performed by invitation at the American Harp Society National Conference in New York City, the International Festival de Harpe in Ancenis, France, the Mid-Atlantic Harp Festival in McLean, Va., the Festival de la Harpe, in Princeton, NJ., and at Commonwealth Plaza of the Kimmel Center.
